Mistified

by Kinan Faham on Jun.29, 2010, under photography

This is a collection that was taken around 6 AM last Saturday in Essex, CT just before heading to the city for a day full of photo-shooting. The sun had just woken up and was covered by a thick cover of mist and fog adding a mystifying layer to the scene. Connecticut river is at the end of the road on which I stood but is covered as well.

The Clouds Summit(s)

by Kinan Faham on May.06, 2010, under Nature, Storms, photography

Another week & another attempt at capturing the mundane & then trying to make it look more intriguing. The majority of the pictures in this album took place either as I was heading to work in the early AM or late in the day as I rushed out unleashing the shutter as fleets of clouds had their daily summit(s).

American Beauty: Smyth Sanctuary, Connecticut River

by Kinan Faham on Feb.14, 2010, under Hiking

I first heard about this sanctuary from a co-worker. Connecticut river has a bunch of places like this one. They are not as visible to the clueless eye as they’re intertwined with the private properties surrounding them.

Fall finale…Everything must go!

by Kinan Faham on Nov.24, 2009, under Nature, Parks, photography

The following gallery was taken in Old Saybrook and Essex, Connecticut mostly in places I have not been to before.

It always captivates me when the sun rises after a long dark rainy night and reveals the beauty of our world.

Here is to another captivating moment wondering around…

Burning of the fleet in Essex Connecticut

by Kinan Faham on May.11, 2009, under Travel

The town of Essex (celebrates) every year the loss of its fleet by the British soldiers in April of 1814. Many accounts exist to how this took place but the common theme is that the Britons anchored in Old Saybrook and used launches to reach Essex through Connecticut river. They were detected by the lighthouse keeper but could not do anything as there were no American troops around.

The following videos and photos show the ceremony commemorating the raid and the day Essex suffered its biggest loss as it was a ship building town back in those days:

A useful source to count the details of that day may be found on Connecticut river museum’s website authored by J. Stuart Rankin, Jr.:

Here are some photos I took on that day:

  • The Silent Camera

Always fascinated by the odds of the world we live in, I keep my camera at close range all the time just to capture anything my eyes see and like.

This blog will document journeys to places unknown(to this fella at least) and show you around through his eyes.

My long term goal is to visit all of the 392 national parks in the United States and hopefully many more interesting places.

I hope you like how I see our world.

Feel free to send me your shouts & murmurs either by leaving a comment or through the contact page.

    Ciao!
