by Kinan Faham on Aug.15, 2010, under Music

Evan Ziporyn, a founding member of the famous Bang On A Can, played an outstanding set for Solo Clarinet & Bass Clarinet last Sunday at the Noguchi Museum in New York. The performance took place at the sculpture garden and included original pieces as well as pieces by Steve Reich and David Lang. Evan Ziporyn’s performance is part of the ongoing collaboration between the museum and Bang On A Can to bring “Music In The Garden” series to the public.

The last performance will take place on September 12th 2010 with Tristan Perich.

My Heart Is In The Highlands

by Kinan Faham on Jul.13, 2010, under Hiking, Nature, Parks, Travel, meetup, photography

Inspired by the adaptation of Robert Burns’ song for organ by Arvo Part, this was a hike to Mount Taurus on the Hudson river Valley with a hiking meetup group last Sunday in the early AM. The video clip was shot along Metro North Hudson Line and the photos were taken around the white and yellow trails.

A Walk With Adobe Titans

by Kinan Faham on Jun.29, 2010, under Parks, meetup, photography

Adobe started a new meetup group in the Big Apple and they organized a photo walk last Saturday with Tom Hogarty and Bryan O’Neil Hughes. We wondered around 22nd Street dropping by the High line park before heading back to Fotocare to listen to what magical things Adobe CS5 and Lighroom 3 had to offer. I have to say they sound promising.

Solstice Week

by Kinan Faham on Jun.24, 2010, under photography

The best time of the year is now: When light defeats darkness and days become more prominent than nights. This collection was taken in two places: Coney Island, Brooklyn NY during their annual and famous Mermaid Parade and in Old Saybrook, Connecticut.

The Blue Angels at Jones Beach Air Show

by Kinan Faham on Jun.09, 2010, under Events, Parks, Travel

This is a video of the US Navy Blue Angels as they put together a spectacular show on Memorial Day weekend at Jones Beach State Park in Long Island. In addition, a few frames follow from the beach and one that demonstrates a failed attempt to capture the full sun in what is known as Manhattanhenge (went there on Monday May 31st 2010)….

Tears From The Sky

by Kinan Faham on May.14, 2010, under Hiking, Nature, Parks, meetup, photography

A hike up the Shawangunks in New Paltz, NY last weekend with Hartford Area Hiking meetup group. What started as a pouring rainy day turned sunny and beautiful as we climbed up along the trails. I chose the name for this post after seeing a few drops under the peak in which it appeared that the sky was crying. It was mother’s day and it seemed that nobody remembered to visit Mother Nature!

A Moment In Time

by Kinan Faham on May.03, 2010, under photography

At 11:00 AM EST Sunday, shutterbugs around the globe were asked to capture their moment and share it with NYTimes photo blog where the editors wanted to build a collage of photos from different parts of the world.

I ended up submitting the picture appearing first in this post.

Always fascinated by the odds of the world we live in, I keep my camera at close range all the time just to capture anything my eyes see and like.

This blog will document journeys to places unknown(to this fella at least) and show you around through his eyes.

My long term goal is to visit all of the 392 national parks in the United States and hopefully many more interesting places.

I hope you like how I see our world.

Feel free to send me your shouts & murmurs either by leaving a comment or through the contact page.

    Ciao!
