Certain cars stood out because they revolutionized conventional styling & design. Each of the following Simeone Museum cars was a remarkable demonstration of this fact:

  • 1933 Squire Roadster, a masterpiece of beautiful design complimented by technical advances which made it unparalleled in its day.
  • 1935 Auburn 851 Boat Tail Speedster, an interesting phenomenon embodied in callipygian shapes obviously very desirable at the time. The Auburns appeared in movies with the lovely heiress driving to her Beverly Hills mansion, usually in a white speedster. Every 15 year old in 1935 lusted for an Auburn speedster.
  • 1949 Hudson Convertible,  featuring a box-perimeter frame, with the floor pan attached at the bottom so that passengers actually stepped down to enter. As a result, its center of gravity was low and handling was excellent.
  • 1966 Ferrari 365p Tre Posti Berlinetta Speciale: The first sports car with  three passenger seats(the driver sitting in the middle just like the much later Mclaren F1).

"the Silent Camera" was conceived in 2009 and was inspired by the music of Arvo Part especially his piece "Silentium". I perceive the modern world as oscillating between two extremes that are analogous to two of Arvo Part's pieces: "Perpetuum Mobile" represents the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the sea of people surrounding you, the noise in the streets, the deadlines, the challenges and the lessons to learn, the new technologies and risks facing our civilization, the musical pieces you learn [or fail to master],.. etc. "Silentium" represents the resolution of every musical note, every spoken word and every movement of your day. It is the moment that you are most likely to remember after the day's noise has settled and its turbulence has subsided. It is the moment that we all crave and the moment that will allow us to persist to the next day when the Perpetuum Mobile cycle starts again.
